Distinct Identity HARD!

HARD is a membership organization whose members are drawn from the local communities in South Sudan. The members through the general assembly elect their representatives to the board of trustees. Currently HARD has a board of trustees consisting of seven members; three female and four male. The board meets at least twice in year and also when circumstances demand. The board of trustees appoints the Executive Director who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization. The Executive Director is mandated by the board to appoint other staff of the organization and oversee the day to day management of the organization together with the management committee. The Management committee consists of departmental heads and the Executive Director. Programme staff carry out the actual implementation of the activities are present in all the locations where HARD operates.

To facilitate the communities to become self-sufficient and self-reliant by contributing to agricultural production and access to education, health and sustainable development

We Established in 1995

HARD is a National South Sudanese NGO (also registered in Kenya) that was established in 1995 at the height of civil war to support communities in the then Southern Sudan region.

In the initial years, the organization originally provided humanitarian support to the communities but over the years, it systematically increased its capacity and is currently implementing several emergency and long-term development programmes.
